Meanwhile, American rapper and singer Jelly Roll joined Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a guest host last month. He took the opportunity to criticize Trump’s latest tariff threats against Canada, as well as the renaming of Lake Ontario.

In an interview with CBC on the red carpet of the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) opening weekend, American actor Ed Helms, best known for his roles in NBC sitcom The Office and The Hangover trilogy, threw his support behind the Canadian film scene.

“This is an incredible film community and I’m super proud to be part of it,” he said.

Helms stars in a new film titled The Stunt Driver, which premiered at TIFF on Thursday and follows the story of a Canadian stuntman.

“The reason I’m in these projects is because they’re incredible stories and they happen to be Canadian stories,” he said, adding, “the crews that I worked on in Edmonton and Montreal were just the best.”

Also speaking to CBC at TIFF, Sarah Paulson, who stars in the movie Closing Night, which premiered on Saturday, said “I love Canada.”

Responding to a question asked by a reporter on the red carpet, she added: “I love Canada more and more every day,” while looking down the lens of the camera.

Paulson is best known for her roles in the TV shows American Horror Story, All’s Fair and Ratched, among others, and also starred in the films Ocean’s 8 and Birdbox.

Ex-NFL star Jason Kelce previously insulted Canada in an episode of his podcast, New Heights, which he hosts with brother Travis Kelce. But, making up for his comments, he said in a social media apology: “I love Canada.”

Speaking about the 2025 World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers, he said on the podcast: “You’re telling me I’m supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team and a team that spends more money than everybody else? Who the fuck cares about either?”

His comments were met with criticism, particularly from Canadians, leading him to share an apology outlining several things he “loves” about Canada.
