Yogurt Products Sold at Costco Recalled Over Potential Mould

Yogurt recalled by Costco Canada. Costco Canada

The owner of The Greek Gods brand yogurt has issued a recall notice for two yogurt products sold at Costco Canada over concerns they may contain mould.

Customers who purchased two-pack 650-gram containers of either The Greek Gods Honey Yogurt or The Greek Gods Organic Yogurt Plain products at a Costco warehouse or Costco Business Centre between June and August received an email from the company about the recall, according to an Aug. 11 news release.

Affected products have best-before dates from Aug. 1 to Sept. 15, and are identified by store stock numbers 245554 and 1774521, respectively, according to the notice issued by brand owner Hain Celestial.

It advised customers not to consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled items, and asked that they be brought into the store for a full refund.

Hain Celestial issued an apology to customers, while asking them to inform others who may have received the products about the recall.

On its own page for the recall, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency describes the issue as a non-harmful microbial contamination related to quality or spoilage concerns, and lists it as a Class 3 recall.

Class 3 is the lowest hazard level assigned to a product recall by Health Canada, and refers to situations where exposure to or use of the product is not likely to cause any adverse health consequences.

Such recalls are typically related to spoilage or quality issues such as mould or off-flavors, minor labeling violations, or packaging defects that result in aesthetic imperfections or minor container defects that affect product quality rather than safety.

The most recent yogurt-related recall in Canada before the current Greek Gods one was for Yoplait YOP drinkable yogurt, which was recalled on Nov. 22, 2025, over concerns that the product could contain pieces of plastic. The recall was national and affected numerous flavours and package sizes.
